Founded as Dial Square by workers at the Royal Arsenal in 1886, Arsenal moved to Highbury in 1913 and to the Emirates Stadium in 2006. The Herbert Chapman era of the 1930s established the club as a dominant force in English football, with five First Division titles in seven seasons. The Arsène Wenger era from 1996 to 2018 brought three Premier League titles — including the famous unbeaten "Invincibles" season of 2003–04 — and seven FA Cups, more than any other club has won in that period.
Mikel Arteta succeeded Wenger's successor Unai Emery in December 2019, inheriting an eighth-place squad. By 2022–23 Arsenal were leading the Premier League for most of the season, and the club has remained in the top four ever since. Bukayo Saka, Martin Ødegaard and Declan Rice anchor the current generation.
Arsenal hold the joint-most FA Cups in English football (14 alongside Manchester United). The North London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur is the club's defining fixture; the rivalry with Chelsea has intensified in the Premier League era.
