Juventus — Club History

Juventus were founded on 1 November 1897 by a group of young students in Turin. The club has been owned by the Agnelli family since 1923 — the longest single-family ownership in European football — and is widely known as the "Old Lady" (La Vecchia Signora).

Juventus won an unprecedented nine consecutive Serie A titles between 2011–12 and 2019–20 under managers Antonio Conte, Massimiliano Allegri and Maurizio Sarri. The club's two Champions League titles came in 1985 (under Giovanni Trapattoni) and 1996 (under Marcello Lippi); they have lost seven other finals, the most by any club.

The 2006 Calciopoli scandal saw Juventus stripped of two Serie A titles and relegated to Serie B. The club rebuilt patiently and returned to dominance. Thiago Motta, the former Bologna head coach, took over in summer 2024 with the brief to restore Champions League credibility.
